My parents have been down in Naples, Florida for that past couple of months near where my grandparents live, so the boys and I thought we’d drive down and spend a week with all of them. It’s about a 10 hour drive, so it seemed worth it! I had planned to make the journey on my own, but my dad was SO kind. He flew up to Georgia and drove the boys and I down (and reversed the process on the way back). That made the drive SO much easier – reststops were manageable and cranky boys could be soothed by me and food (mostly food!!) while we drove! We left the house at 3:30 am and got to my grandparents’ condo at 3 in the afternoon.
We had a great time and the boys managed to leave the condo in one piece, though I am certain my grandparents were happy to have some peace and quiet by the time the week was over. =D Despite two full days of rain, we found plenty of fun things to do throughout the week: nature-hike, parks, made a dinosaur boardgame (something E asks to play almost daily), time in the pool, time at the beach, a visit to “Tin City” (a tourist trap where I loved going as a kid) farmers market, playing games, reading books, going to the library, “sending mail” to each other, etc. The highlight was spending time with family!!
