It doesn’t snow in “Hotlanta”, right? Oh, but it does! And WHEN it does – however insignificant the amount – the city shuts down. We got about 2.5 inches of snow on Tuesday, but because there aren’t snowplows or salt, it seems like 2.5 feet! Most schools had early release on Tuesday and some offices closed early, too. Unfortunately, that meant that by about 2 in the afternoon, the city was gridlocked. Horror stories of people spending hours to go a couple of blocks surfaced. Mike snapped this picture outside his office at around 2:
He decided to wait it out and try to go home a little later than usual, thinking the roads would be more clear by then…unfortunately the roads turned to ice then and had only gotten worse. What normally would have taken him about 30 minutes took him over 4 hours! What a relief to have him home safely! He’s had two really productive work days from home since and should be good to go into the office again tomorrow. Everything I usually do during the week was cancelled as well, but I’m hopeful E will be back at school tomorrow.
Ethan LOVES playing in the snow and was outside with me for a couple of hours. Micah braved it for about 30 minutes and then decided to stay inside.
