I am going to start with the end of our week-long road trip and move my way towards the beginning. And please keep in mind that this blog acts as our journal, so it may include way too many pictures or details for your tastes…but it serves a purpose for us. =)
SO, after spending time in both Indiana and Wisconsin, we made our way to Cincinnati where we would spend the long weekend with the Maurer family: Cass, Adam, Hana and Ellie. First stop on the 6-hour drive was to pick up Daddio at Midway Airport. We were all SO excited to see him!!
We drove a little over an hour further and made our second stop at a park in Indiana (thanks for researching it for us, Mom!!). We met up with the Maurers here. Micah affectionately called them, “my new friends” and Ethan and Hana started playing together as if they always had play dates at the park together. It was awesome to see!
After a little more driving, we stopped in Indianapolis for lunch and to walk around a bit. We loved this city – very beautiful and clean.
Then we headed to our hotel near Cincinnati, OH. The kids enjoyed coloring together, playing hide and seek and reading lots of books. We had take-out that evening and put the kiddos to bed. The adults enjoyed some time chatting in our common room.
The next day we visited two different parks, with a break for naps/rests in between. Cincinnati was beautiful and these parks were perfect for all 4 of the kids! We also grabbed some lunch at Whole Foods (we are trying to go to a Whole Foods in every state…I think…haha).
And then it was Sunday already. We spent some time at the hotel packing up, playing hide and seek, eating breakfast, and playing “Simon Says”. And then we headed to one last park together! Life with kids. =)
This weekend flew by! We had such a blast with these guys and absolute LOVE spending time with them. They hold a very special place in our hearts and we love them dearly. We hope to keep up the yearly tradition of going on a family trip with them.
