On Monday, after we spent the morning at the Sand Dunes in Indiana, we drove the last few hours to Wisconsin where we stayed until our trip to Cincinnati on Friday. The boys helped Grandpa water the plants and feed the birds. And at night Grandma read a new chapter book to them – “A Bear Called Paddington” – along with a few other favorites, like “Goodnight Gorilla”.
Tuesday was my sweet nephew’s 1st birthday!! We were so glad to get to celebrate with him!! We spent the morning at a splash park in the harbor. When we finished playing around there, we went to check out two fire trucks that were parked nearby. As it turns out, they were testing these brand new firetrucks and “needed” help. Ethan was able to help turn on the water and check out the fire hose. That afternoon we opened presents with Ivan, ate dinner and then went to the bike races (which is something I used to do every Tuesday night in high school with Cass). Cassia joined us there!
On Wednesday we decided to be CRAZY and drive to Green Bay for Packers practice. Green Bay is about 2.5 hours away so I was pretty hesitant to get in the car for another 5 hours, but I am SO glad that we did! We had a blast!! Major photo credit shout out to my dad for his pictures there!! We got to see the players bike to and from practice on little kids’ bikes – a tradition I have been anxiously waiting to see!! The kids would yell, “here! here!” every time a player came around the bend, trying to get the player to ride their bike. Micah still remembers them cheering, “here! here!” and seems to have loved it…although you wouldn’t tell it from this picture. =/
Micah absolutely LOVED the cheesehead and wanted to wear it the rest of the time we were there. He kept telling me to “buy it” for him. Micah also enjoyed yelling, “Go Mason!” every time Mason Crosby kicked a field goal. At that point there weren’t many people left in the stands, so he even gave my brother a little wave to thank us for all of the cheering. =D I think Ethan primarily loved that he was with Aunt Jen and Uncle Brad, who were both in their element!
That evening I went out with two of my sweet friends from high school!
Thursday was my 30th birthday!! It was a shame to not spend it with Mike, but such a huge blessing to be with my family. That morning my oldest friend, Calen, came over with her girls.
She gave me such a sweet gift (which brought back lots of hilarious memories):
We spent some time by the lake at some of our favorite childhood hang outs:
We had my favorite meal for dinner from my favorite place – pizza and we enjoyed some of my mom’s AMAZING black forest cake. It was a wonderful way to begin a new decade! And the very next day we were with Daddio again and spending the weekend with my best friend, Cass. Best birthday! =)
