After having a final breakfast with our dear friends in Switzerland, we parted ways. My parents headed off to the Netherlands (if I am remembering correctly…) and the Cleve Crew drove through Liechtenstein and Austria, finally ending in Germany. This drive, as you might imagine, was spectacular.
We stopped in Liechtenstein for our lunch, which we had packed with us from Switzerland. Then we explored that town for a bit before continuing our drive.
That evening we arrived in Germany. We stayed at a cute hotel called the Alpenstuben, which was walking distance from Neuschwanstein castle (the famous castle that the Disney castle is modeled after). We only had time for dinner and bed that evening, but the following morning we got to enjoy the city and check out the castle.
The next morning after breakfast, we took a carriage ride up to the castle. 30 years ago, Mike took a carriage ride up the castle, too! How cool is that?!
After enjoying this area for the morning, we started on our way to The Hangar. We made an attempt at a brief stop in Stuttgart, which is where Mike lived for a couple years as a child. This wasn’t our best detour, but we found some lunch and then continued our drive.
That evening, we made it to Landscheid, Germany! We spent a good portion of the rest of our trip visiting with our dear friends from Colorado, the Bissonnette family, here at The Hangar. So much more about our time with them to come in the next posts!
