Day 8: Luxembourg and Trier, Germany

After enjoying a fantastic home-cooked meal with the Bissonnette’s the night before a wonderful rest, we were ready to do some exploring with Mr. B.  He took us to see an American cemetery from fallen soldiers of WWII – a sobering, but neat experience.  I absolutely LOVE this quote on the wall at the cemetery – something to live by, for sure.  This was in Luxembourg.  We also drove to the city center to explore and enjoy lunch.

Next we headed to Trier, where we met up with my parents who had been in Heidelberg.  Ethan RAN as fast as he could when he spotted them near the Porta Negra – there’s something cool about seeing familiar faces when surrounded by the unfamiliar.  Here we explored Roman ruins, old cathedrals and saw Constantine’s Palace.  It wasn’t the prettiest day, weather-wise, but it was a LOT of fun exploring.

That evening my parents stayed with the kiddos at the Hangar while Mikey and I went with the Bissonnette’s to their small group meeting.  We don’t have any pictures from that evening, but it was very nice to get to meet their dear friends and get a better taste for their life in Germany.
