Our dear friends offered to entertain our boys while Mike and I went to Paris. What a treat! I’m not sure which of us had more fun! The boys spent lots of time jumping on the trampoline and playing in the water. They also picked apples and made homemade applesauce. The following day they went blackberry picking. Mike and I were back that evening in time to enjoy some frozen yogurt and fresh blackberries. We are SO grateful for this time apart and for the Bissonnette family making it such a special time for the boys. They absolutely LOVED being with them and clearly didn’t miss us much. =)
Meanwhile, Mike and I drove ~4 hours to Paris. I had never been before. Mike was there in 2005 and made a video on the top of the Eiffel Tower for me, asking me to be his girlfriend. =) Here are a couple pics of Mike in Europe in 2005. He bought this picture for me (and we have it hanging in our bedroom now) then and we found the same basic location this time and took some pictures by that tree!!
Please excuse all of the selfies. =) We are not big selfie-takers, but when you are visiting such a cool place and it’s just the two of you…it’s just what happens. =) We rented an airbnb place on an island in Paris – a cute little one-bedroom studio. This is the street, island and room:
We explored the city until after midnight. We started by having crepes and checking out Notre Dame. Then we walked a couple miles to the Eiffel Tower and climbed the ~700 steps to the middle/top and spent time up there until sunset. Next we found an INCREDIBLE restaurant for dinner, not too far from the Eiffel. I wanted to see it again at night since that’s when Mike had made the video for me 10 years ago.
The next day we spent exploring the rest of the city. Everywhere you turn there is something beautiful and historic. It was a really neat experience and we have tons of pictures of all of the beautiful buildings and statues, but I tried to limit myself. =) This was the day we found the spot that Mike had purchased the picture for me all those years ago! We also bought ourselves a new picture.
I can’t sum up these two days of our trip adequately. Suffice it to say, we had a wonderful time!!
