We are experiencing days and days (and days and days…) of rain here in Georgia and the boys are playing Legos in the playroom. So I’m taking some time to get caught up on our blog.
Micah LOVES to help in the kitchen. He offers to help often and really enjoys it. Here are some pics of him making us some cookies. They were healthy cookies, people, and they turned out super tasty. It makes me giggle when I can tell them that they may have a cookie for breakfast. =) Micah loves to help because he likes to be helpful…but I think all of the little tastes might have something to do with it. =) Before starting, he had to go grab his “cooking hat”.
Ethan has been loving playing soccer this fall. On Saturday he was able to play in three quarters and played each of the “positions”: goal keeper, defense and offense. He did a great job and has been improving a lot this year. We’re focusing on playing aggressively, dribbling the ball, and being kind to everyone. =)
About once a month, Mike and I (and, by default, Ethan) volunteer in the 4 year old class at church. This is a really sweet group of kiddos (all boys right now) and we love doing it. Micah, of course, thinks it’s extra exciting to have his entire family in his class with him.
Grandma Cleve sent some fun new “school” workbooks and books along with Aunt Ashley and Uncle Zach last month. The boys loved all of these gifts and we spent an afternoon doing workbooks and playing with stickers the other day (think: rain, rain, rain).
We finished reading “Beezus and Ramona” recently, so we decided to watch the recent movie. The movie was nothing like that book, but I vaguely remember much of the storyline from some of the other books in the series. Hopefully we’ll pick up a few more of those books and it will make more sense to the boys as this movie had nothing to do with the first book. We enjoyed some Fig Newtons in honor of the book (where Ramona decides to have a party and doesn’t tell her Mom that she invited a good 12 kids over to her house…please, let that NEVER happen to me!…and her Mom gives everyone Fig Newtons as party snacks).
Pumped about a recent shopping trip to Kid to Kid. We get two free books every month – YES! – and I was able to buy 3 pants, 3 shirts, one pj pant for Ethan and one sweater for Micah…all for under $40. It’s not fair trade, but it’s the next best thing…used! =D E was pretty pumped about the “army pants”.
Here’s E at CC this week, giving a presentation about our time at the Georgia Air Show. This one cracks me up.
I started this post by saying that Micah loves to help. The other night he was being a big helper (without even being asked) and he spilled hot soup down his arm while attempting to bring the bowl into the dining room for dinner. The poor sweetheart was badly burned and in a lot of pain. We’ve done our best to treat it properly and had a nurse at CC check it out. It’s definitely on the mend and he has not complained about it once. Not once. Very brave boy.
It hasn’t slowed him down a bit:
E is learning to play the tin whistle. =/
Ethan has been asking us about getting a “real” Bible for about a month now. So I took him to a Christian bookstore this week to help him pick one out. He was VERY excited about this. And once we got there and he saw all of the Bible cases, he absolutely wanted one of those to go with it. It’s hard to discourage this kind of thing… =D
Today we had an intergenerational opening at BSF, so I had the boys with me at the beginning. They loved it. I was stunned to see that E didn’t really know what a hymnal was…our church doesn’t use them. And Micah wanted pictures of himself reading the Bible for the very first time.
We’ve been having some really exciting conversations with Ethan recently about his faith. He has been expressing an interest in being a Christian, making a decision for himself, being a child of God, getting baptized, etc. He has learned various ways to talk about it from different people. Today after BSF his leader told me that E told her he wants to become a child of God and basically made that commitment while there. We’ll be having some follow up conversations, of course, but how exciting!!!
