We loved all of the traveling and seeing people, but it’s always good to get back home. On our drive back I saw this sign in a gas station and it sums up our feelings about travel so well:
We soaked up time together for the next two weeks or so before we were all back to traveling. In this time, the boys did a lot of playing with legos, Mike and I celebrated our 13 year anniversary, we did some biking and charting of our miles from the previous month, and the boys read books outside.
We also celebrated the 4th of July with our longest family bike ride yet. We rode on the Cherry Creek Trail and I was so full of joy! Dream come true right there. There was a lot of hail that evening, so we didn’t see too many fireworks.
Finally, we had the privilege of providing respite care for two sweet little guys. Can’t show you any pictures here, but suffice it to say we had a busy weekend with them!
We enjoyed a few extra days with family in town after Breckenridge. Mike left for Minneapolis the morning after we returned to Denver (but not before Dad and Mom sent Ger & Lauren and Mike & I out for a double date…on their 41st anniversary!!…and we forgot to take a picture) and the rest of us enjoyed fun around the city. This was the first time we were able to host my brother and his family and we were thrilled to have them! And it’s always a treat to have more time with Grandpa and Grandma!

We loved having you out here! Thanks for making the trip!!
P.S. I think it goes without saying, most of the photo cred goes to my dad. =)
Mikey and I have never been much of anniversary/special day/birthday celebrators. It just hasn’t been our style, but we do want the boys to see us celebrating our love and commitment to each other even if we just do little things to acknowledge the event. This year we went for a family hike in the Golden area – a beautiful, easy hike (others may want to try it when they are out here). We ended up walking more than 3 miles along the creek and in town a bit. It was lovely! We all had a great time. I was probably beaming the entire time – hiking with my family is one of my all-time favorite activities!
That evening we ordered some sushi take out – an anniversary gift from Grandma Cleve! Thank you!! Yum!!
So thankful for 11 years with my bestie. He and marriage just get better with time. =D
